OUR MISSION
To improve public health by increasing the awareness of, and access to, quality oral health, and to represent and protect the interests of licensed dental hygienists through a viable professional organization.

OUR GOALS
​
Promote public awareness of the profession of dental hygiene.
Support the highest standards of dental hygiene, licensure, and practice by providing quality Continuing Education courses, and by staying abreast of legislation pertaining to the dental hygiene scope of practice.
​
Support efforts the improve collaborative practice within the dental field, and promote inter-professional collaboration by building partnerships with allied health organizations.

OUR STRUCTURE
The Alaska Dental Hygienists' Association is part of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) The ADHA is divided into three levels:

ADHA Membership Categories
There are several different membership types to choose from, find the one that's right for you!
Voting Members
Professional Members: any hygienist who is licensed to practice dental hygiene in any state, territory, or possession of the United States.
New Professional Members: any licensed hygienist who has graduated from an accredited dental hygiene program in the previous two years.
Retired Members: professional members who have reached the age of 62 and are either fully retired from the dental hygiene profession, or working less than 10 hours per week.
Members with Disabilities: professional members who are unable to work due to a verified disability.
Life Members: any professional member who has made significant contributions to the ADHA and the dental hygiene profession (Life membership must be granted by the ADHA House of Delegates).
Non-Voting Members
International Members: licensed hygienists who live and practice outside of the USA.
Student Members: any dental hygiene student who is currently enrolled in an accredited dental hygiene program, or who has graduated and is currently pursuing a higher degree
Supporting Members: any licensed dental hygienist who is not employed in a dental hygiene-related career.
Honorary Members: any person not a dental hygienist who has made outstanding contributions to the dental hygiene field. (Honorary membership must be granted by the ADHA House of Delegates).
Allied Members: any individual who supports the purposes and mission of the ADHA and who is not otherwise qualified for any other class of membership.
Corporate Membership: any corporation, partnership, institution or organization that supports ADHA's mission.
